The role 

To build out our data and AI foundation, we are now looking for an AI Engineer to join us at our Herengracht office in the center of Amsterdam. You report directly to the co-founder and will closely work with our tech team and set up the data foundation to launch innovative use cases that further strengthen our platform’s matching capabilities. This gives you the opportunity to be part of a profitable and fast growing tech startup, with plenty of room to help define our data roadmap. The ideal candidate is able to take ownership of our data & AI platform and lead its further development.

Key responsibilities:

• Own the Cocoroco data & AI platform, ensuring its long-term scalability, reliability, and evolution

• Manage the end-to-end data lifecycle, from overseeing ingestion and ETL/ELT pipelines to data transformation in dbt, ensuring high data integrity for both analysis and production models

• Act as a technical partner for the founders, translating ideas into structured experiments, MVPs, and production-ready use cases that deliver business value

• Develop, deploy, and maintain ML models 

• Build and scale innovative LLM use cases while maintaining and optimizing existing RAG pipelines

• Deliver insights to the business by building and maintaining dashboards in Looker Studio

• Stay updated with AI advancements by researching the very latest technologies, and being able to quickly evaluate and apply them

What to expect

Within 3 months you will:

• Be onboarded onto our modern data platform, composed of GCP, Terraform, and dbt

• Build new data models. Contributing to the backbone of our data ecosystem and delivering BI insights in Looker

• Implement and deploy our own domain-aware chatbot

• Gain a clear vision of Cocoroco’s data landscape and potential

Within 6 months you will:

• Take full ownership of our analytics infrastructure

• Build a robust MLOps framework and ship predictive models to production

• Connect diverse data sources and model the resulting data

• Be pivotal in Cocoroco’s data and AI roadmap

Requirements

Technical expertise:

• At least 2+ years of relevant work experience in AI engineering, Data Science or another relevant technical field, with a proven track record in bringing AI/ML models (including LLMs) from concept into production

• Proficient in Python, SQL, and Git, with a focus on writing clean, production-ready code

• Experience with ELT/ETL pipelines and data warehousing

• Hands-on experience with dbt (data build tool) 

• Experience in managing and deploying applications in cloud environments. Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) specifically is a plus

• Strong understanding of MLOps and/or LLMOps concepts

• Experience with containerization (Docker) and a solid understanding of CI/CD processes 

• Experience with building business dashboards in visualisation tools (e.g. Looker Studio) 

• Familiarity with Infrastructure-As-Code, preferably Terraform

• You enjoy working as part of a team, coordinating effectively with both internal colleagues and external partners

• You think critically about the business implications of your work and strive for the long-term stability and scalability of all applications

• You are a strong communicator, able to explain complex technical concepts clearly to non-technical business stakeholders

• You have the ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic startup environment
